A Homecoming Meal Of Sorts...
« Reply #-1 on: July 06, 2013, 10:57:42 PM »
Gizmo's ashes came home today. We knew it would be another step forward, and to say we were a bit melancholy, well that would be an understatement. Gizmo was on a raw chicken diet  the last ten years, so chicken was the obvious choice for our dinner. Our spice kit from Tee came yesterday so I rubbed up two chickens, one with Mo Rockin' Chicken and the other a homemade
rub. The Mo Rockin' bird got to get cooked on a can of Busch beer with a bit more Mo Rockin' inside the can.
The potato recipe came from "Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cookbook" for Mayberry's Mexican Potato and Corn Casserole. It got cooked on the D Boone next to the hens. We had the last of the cuke, tomato and pepper salad, and for a dessert a bowl of blueberry cheesecake ice cream. The beer can bird with Mo Rockin' was to die for, Aunt Bee's potato casserole was very good, and the ice cream excellent. Normally after dinner it was time to walk Gizmo around town. Tonight....it was quiet. There will be no more walks.
But our boy is home for good.

Thanks for sharing and great looking chicken. Gizmo will be there for you!! My little buddy is spending the night at the vet tonight with a 106° Temp. He is the best cat I have ever had, we play fetch with the ball every day. His name is Emmett, named after the clown :)

That looks like a fine "homecoming" meal.

I'm giving Roscoe an extra hug today.
