These are a midwestern staple, just like chicken fried steak is in the southwest.  Love 'em  ;D  When I was a road warrior I used to seek out the best one in town when I was in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, etc. etc. regions.  Mom and Pop cafes usually specialized in them.  Alas, they are a bit hard to find in NC  :(

And with NC being the 2nd largest pork producer in the country ....you would think we could find one or two places here making this fantastic sammich..... :(

Good lord ... smother that in some spicy sausage gravy and I'll be there 24/7 ...

i'll take like uwfsae and add w/ 3 eggs plz.  crap.  now i'm going out for chicken fried steak and eggs.

I can say tho that I had a good CFS at the Moose Cafe - in front of the Ashveville Farmer's Market. It was not nearly big enough...... ;D
