Breaded steak casserol on the pellet grill (lots of pictures)
« Reply #-1 on: August 28, 2013, 01:42:34 PM »
My late father was an outstanding cook in his own right.  He taught me how to cook indoors as well as outdoors.

When I was 5 or 6 he showed me how to make bread, pasta from scratch, sauce that would bring a tear to any true Italian chef and he taught me to do it my way and not listen to others.  Yes, follow the recipe but make it your own somehow

Well with keeping him in mind I wanted to do something he use to do a lot and it is wonderful. He called it breaded steak casserol.  It's simlpe yet very good.  It's nothing fancy yet taste great.   All you need is potatos, onion, round steak or cube steak and butter (salt and pepper to taste)

All you do is get a pan slice up the spuds place them on the bottom of the pre oiled pan, add onion and butter lay your bredded steak on top of the spuds then add another layer of spuds, onions and butter.  Now this recipe is normaly done with 3 layers of spuds, onions and steak but due to time money and pan I had on hand I made it a little different.  Pictures when done will b posted!

A steak / tater lasagna! I like it. Looking forward to the finished pictures. I might try this on the PBC or the G2G. Thanks, Tommy!

Alright, it's been 45 mins give or take a min  ;)   Time to unfoil and crust up the tators and steak.  Now I'll let this go 15 to 20 mins more or until the steak has a little crust on it then I'll let it rest for a few bsfore cutting

Sorry Jack, temp was around 330 to 355.  Since I don't have a PID hooked up to the pellet pooper yet I just set it to med
temp and the guage was running about 330 to 355.  Since to drop rate of pellets is preset I figured that would be the best setting to go with.

Well I get to sit down and see how it turned out.
Chew...  Chew.... Chew...

Well I will tell you this it has a little smoke to not much but it's there, the meat is tender so much so I didn't need a knife.
The onion and tators were real good not mushy but still firm.  All in all a say its a keeper!  I think even better that in a reg oven

Kimmie has gone down to her moms to see if they will eat it.  Kimmie said to her it was good but with the inlaws ain't no telling what's gonna be said  ??? ??? ???
