My First Tri Tip...
« Reply #-1 on: September 08, 2013, 08:36:06 PM »
Well, I wanted my first attempt at a tri tip roast to be a little different, so last night I made up a coffee rub, and massaged it on good and thick. Started it at 150F for 30 min. using Lumberjack oak-hickory-cherry pellets. Then I cranked grill up to 400F and threw in the GrillGrates, and started the Amaz-n Tube with Milt's apricot-rosemary pellets, when all was going good, tossed the roast back in until IT was 130F. Wrapped it up, and threw 2 heads of romaine split in half, with Caesar salad dressing painted on. About 10 minutes later we were ready as my dearest was inside making homemade mac and cheese in the pressure cooker. Served with some northern Calif. malbec wine this meal was wonderful.
The Bears win, and the 49ers beating the Packers made it even better. Life is good today....we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Have a nice Sunday evening folks!

Looks really tasty, and I like the idea of a coffee rub.

Malbec is one of my favorite varietals (although I find it difficult to find fault with just about any grape)  ;D

I once tried out a coffee rub on a sirloin steak, but didn't like that blend I used. Time to try another blend.

That tri tip looks as if you never did anything else!
