Potato Bombs with Bacon Pretzel Sticks
« Reply #-1 on: October 18, 2013, 04:08:39 PM »
I am quite a BBQ Pit Boys fan and I have made the potato bombs before, but this is the first time doing
the bacon pretzel sticks.
The ingredients:

The large bakers with Conecuh sausage put in the middle of the spuds.  I ended up having to cut the potatoes
in half to get my corer to go through the middle, thus the toothpicks.  I seasoned the bacon with Lambert’s Sweet
Rub O Mine.

I took the pretzels and wrapped them with the remainder of my 1 pound of bacon.  I seasoned 4 of them with
Super Pig and the other 3 with Lambert’s.  Going to cook up the rest of the Conecuh to snack on!

Weber Performer almost ready for the potatoes.

Potatoes onto the Performer.  I am using my Grill Dome Half Moon rack directly over the coals.  Performer is at 350.

After a half hour I turned the potatoes and put the pretzels and sausage on.

45 minutes later and the potatoes and sides are done!  Total cook time at 350 was about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Potato was topped with butter, sour cream, Mexican cheese and some leftover pulled pork.

Potato was delicious as was the Conecuh sausage.  The pretzel sticks were good but probably not
something I would want to do all the time.

Thanks for looking!

Good lookin' cook (and I realize how tasty that Conecuh sausage is now that I finally had some at the gathering).  One thing, though - don't use "thus" on the forum unless you use "whilst" in the same post.  dee only gets out his dictionary once per session and likes to make sure he gets to look up more than one word.

So if you had "extra" Conecuh sausage, could you have split it and laid the pretzel inside (like a pretzel hot dog on a sausage bun) and then wrapped it with bacon? Just a thought since the pretzels and bacon alone didn't seem to make the cut.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion

Oh yeah I forgot about dee.. ;D  Great idea about splitting the sausage.  I happen to have
another package of Conecuh, more pretzels and of course bacon!  ;) Will give that a try next time.

It would shore help if there was a picture of "whilst" and "thus" they ain't.  Dee
