We're Making Rotissieri Chicken!
« Reply #-1 on: October 20, 2013, 03:08:48 PM »
My wife and decided to do a whole roaster today on the Weber Kettle using the rotissieri option. We have had this nice plump roaster in the freezer that I purchased before the operation. It weighs about 7 pounds.

So, what I did is stuff real butter under the skin and put Mo Rockin Chicken on top of the skin which I had rubbed with mayo. I figured that this was the easiest way to prepare the bird. Then I placed it on the skewer.

I got the Weber ready by using the charcoal trays on the side for indirect heat, placed a pan of water into the unit, and sprinkled the coals with hickory. Then I set the whole thing ablaze with my torch.

Caye carried the chicken outside and put it into the motor. Although, I am walking much better and can actually walk short distances without the cane, having her carry the bird was the better part of valor.

So, now with adjustments to the vents, I have the Weber cranking away at 350 degrees. I am hoping that in 3 hours that this bird will be done.

I will keep all of you in formed.

Ed

Ok..... we completed our assignment and removed the chicken from the Weber.

We served it up with green beans and a small gold potato with butter and sour cream. Very simple.

Chicken was pretty moist and tasty with the Mo Rockin.

It's amazing that something that takes hours with preparation and cooking takes only 30 minutes to eat. But it was fun. I am tired now. But, we have a half of chicken left over and maybe a nice chicken soup coming in the middle of the week.

Stay happy,

Ed

VOD, that is a beautiful cook, and indirect cook with hickory has a good smoke flavor and no grease fog taste.---  Some info on my total rt. hip replacement done the last Of April.  I was  on the walker the next day, on a cane the 5th day, and walking without the cane and up one flight of stairs the 10th.  The procedure was the anterior approach.  The hip is now better than it ever was.  Be encouraged , it should work out great

It's amazing that something that takes hours with preparation and cooking takes only 30 minutes to eat...

That is so true, and a thought that occurs to me with nearly every long cook we do

Great looking chicken, Ed  ;)

Good looking chicken. My dad used to use a rotisserie often, but it's been many years since I have. Sure brings back fond memories.
