Turkey and Chicken carving
« Reply #-1 on: November 29, 2013, 06:56:24 PM »
The other day someone posted a video of a butcher in NYC (New York City!!!) on how to carve a turkey.  I used this yesterday and it was the simplest and easiest and bestest  I have ever carved a turkey.  Thanks for whoever posted it.  Dee

I am a big enough man to admit that my wife carves the birds in our house.  She is simply better at it than me.

I will bet that if you post this question to Rummm ( Ask A Butcher) he will have some great info as well.

We went to my daughter's in New Hampshire for TDay... cooked two birds: one roasted and one deep fried...

Went to carve the birds and found out they didn't have a carving knife and I forgot to bring my knife roll!! (Also the largest measuring cup she had was one cup!!)

I know what's on her Christmas list.

RAD,  That's the guy.  What I like is how he uses the pressure and then using the tip of the knife to follow what is resisting.  The idea of cutting the breast completely off and then slicing it is good also.  I just found it the best way I've ever carved...of course, y'all should see some of my most ungood ones. :'(  Dee

I found that using his method was very easy and I was able to get a lot of meat off the bones.
