Old School Ham Bone Beans
« Reply #-1 on: April 22, 2014, 01:31:00 PM »
After looking at a lot of fantastic cooks over the Easter Holiday I asked the question. Does any have a good Ham Bone and Bean recipe. Smokin Don was kind enough to suggest the following.

After our dinner I cut out the bone and cubed up 2 cups of pork.

Making the stock,

Soaking the beans, as Pappy says add lots and lots of water. The beans sat overnight. Could have been longer.

Chopped up the carrots, onion and celery,

Into the pot and cooked down a bit,

Sorry must have stopped taking photos,

Your Bowl, Enjoy ;D

My wife does not like beans but like the soup. Has good flavour. One suggestion was smoking the ham or ham hocks. I look forward to trying this next time.

My wife doesn't care for bean soup (or beans in general).  That's fine with me.  More for me.  Your bean soup looks really good.  Nice job.

Man, that looks good

My mother (German) made a white bean soup that I've not thought of until I saw your post.  Hers was based on smoked ham hocks, white beans, and potatoes.  I need to make that real soon

BLAM! That looks excellent. I'll take a big bowl.

A smoked ham hock would be a great addition too.
