Saucy Chicks in a Blanket
« Reply #-1 on: May 29, 2012, 09:08:11 AM »
Easy now..  :D

Here we go.  Shredded chicken parts, a can of shrooms, all chopped up. Add a dollup of BBQ sauce.   Open up a 99 cent can of crescent rolls and lets do this..

MAK is screaming hot.

It was ugly, but they are ready to go on.

Wide-angle shot - for a reason.

Almost there.

Done!  Pull them inside to rest a bit.

Plated up with pasta salad and some 'Thunder & Lightning' cuke salad from my buddy Hal.

Not bad for leftovers!

What a great way to "re-purpose" chicken, or any meat! Thanks for that idea!

What all is in the "Thunder and Lightning" salad?

Squirt, I just love how you always seem to pair great food with a clever thread title!

I'll see if I can get the recipe from him.  I'm sure it changes every time.
I know it has cucumbers, onions, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, herbage, lots of vinegar, some sugar and water.

It's a bit of a ticking time bomb w.r.t leftovers.    It was nice & mild on Sunday.  It had a slight punch last night, tonight it will be like battery acid..   ;D

Sounds like the potential of "living on the edge" ( of the porcelain")  exists with the recipe! Shucks - why not I say!!!

I wish you had a pic of how they looked before you rolled them up.  That would give me an idea of how much meat went into each roll and how you distributed the meat.

Still, they look tasty and I'm gonna give them a try.

I thought about it, but my fingers were a mess.    I used as much chicken as I could pick up with 2 fingers, and then a pinch or 2 of chopped mushrooms and a tsp of sauce.   I piled it on the 'wide' end of the crescent, and rolled it up tight - after I tucked the corners (wings) in a bit to keep the filling from squirting out.    Kinda like rolling up an eggroll I would imagine.

Other than what fell on the ground, I used that entire pile of chicken and mushroom for 8 rolls.

Cooked at 400 for about 18-20 minutes.     It's cooler on the top rack, so it took a little longer than stated on the can.
