lrg BGE owner here
« Reply #-1 on: June 20, 2014, 12:06:01 PM »
i have been looking at kamado smokers / grills for along time.  since aren, marty and tanya got theirs and love them.  i have looked at all of kamados and did alot of research on them.  i talked to most of the kamado owners on this forum for their input also.  it can down to something my wife said, "mexico has been making pottery for hundreds of years".  true statement.  alot of the other kamados were made in china and india.  no bueno for me.  i also love the life time warranty w/ the BGE.  so yesterday i went down and bought a lrg BGE from my egg dealer that came from a eggfest.  only used once and hundreds of dollars cheaper than a new one.  it comes w/ a nest and plate setter.  my new green buddy is being delivered next Tuesday.  ya for me.    8)

Congrats on the new cooker.  Kind of weird imagining you cooking on a non-Weber.

Just got back from Sam's with a 12 pack of FT that went into my beer fridge. I will be having a couple this evening, Sparky has got me hooked on them.

They are addicting aren't they???   I remember the first time I tried a FT, I was at the drag races with a friend that was racing a car, no he wasn't drinking until he was eliminated which happened early due to blowing an engine at the starting line, they had a cooler full of FT's and let me try one.  That was their first mistake, I helped them clean out their cooler then we had to settle on the Sam Adams I had in mine.  I've been a FT fan ever since.

Sparky:  Check out this grill if you have not already done so:  www.komodokamado.com.  This grill is out of my price range, and it probably does not cook much better than cheaper ones.  Look at their home page and go to the bottom of the page and "click here".  It is a nice pictorial on the grill and how it is made.  Looks to me more like an overpriced piece of art, but it would be a good conversation piece, but at $6000!!!
