Yep, there's a soft launch of the porcelain enamel coated PBC. Start making room in the backyard.

I've used Dupli-Color ceramic based paint on automobile brake parts.  I've been thinking that I would use it if I ever have to repaint my PBC.  Hedrix makes a good porcelain enamel in spray cans.  Either should be more durable than typical Rustoleum.

watching this one...I have always wondered about a 7 qt enamel coated cast iron dutch oven to cook over the oepn fire. What it woudl do to the enamel. I ws thnking of inventing a enamael coated inside and uncoated outside for my  cooking becasue If I make chili and stuff lie that.  I can always taste the iron in it. Does that make any sense? I don't wanna waste a enameled pot to find out tho.   Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Porceloin coated steel is much more durable under high heat !
I've got a 14 y/o weber kettle & an 11 y/o WSM!
Extremely high heat (600+) will slowly cause micro crack in coating & cause failure.
As long as the coals don't touch the floor or sidewalls ( charcoal basket) should be a 20 year cooker

So it seems like the good PBC folks will just phase out the regular PBCs?
John Dawson from Patio Daddio said that it has gotten beefier as well (18 vs 20-gauge).

I know how you feel. My wife has the business card for a well known local divorce attorney stuck on the fridge with " one more grill" written on it.

Time to rewrite "for better or for worse" to "for better or for worse with unlimited grills"

With care the regular PBC will last for years just can't leav uncovered in the rain like a weber
