Title: Ribs- NFL 2016 week 1
Post by: akruckus on September 12, 2016, 09:29:52 AM
I pulled some ribs from the freezer before the boss said we are ordering pizza when she gets home from going to see Carson Wentz take it to the browns.  My Steelers aren't on so no big deal on what we do for the afternoon/evening games.  I did have a little yard work to do at my Mother-in-law's condo so this was my first attempt at hot and fast ribs on the PBC.  Not sure what took me so long to do this, but 2 hours 45 minutes from lighting the basket to me grubbing, I will certainly being doing this again in time crunch.

Saturday morning I rubbed the ribs and wrapped them until Sunday morning where I unwrapped them and allowed to air dry until they were ready to hang.  Went to my MIL for 2 hours home by 1030, filled basket with charcoal, used lighter fluid (first time), set the basket in the barrel and lit the coals. 15 minutes later I put the lid 3/4 of the way on the barrel, and pulled the ribs from the fridge and hooked it up. I then went to the PBC and put the lid all the way on, went back inside and made sure NBCSN was on to watch the one soccer game match (Swansea City v Chelsea).  Grabbed the ribs and took them to hang at 11 sharp.  By noon I got some bourbon bbq sauce from the Country Club we use for half a chicken, I added half a can of coke to that and allowed it to cook down. I then checked the ribs and saw they were looking good.

1230p I sauced the ribs and put them back out on the PBC.  Then at 1255 I pulled them for a second round of saucing but got distracted by the National Anthem.  I don't know who made the call to do the National Anthem via trumpet but I'll tell you what it was really moving.  My wife at the game said there were some people crying during it, I know I was tearing up at home.  After I got myself together I put the re-sauced ribs out on the pit for another 10 minutes.  Once pulled I loosely covered with foil and allowed to rest for a few minutes before slicing and chowing down watching the iggles.

They were awesome ribs.  I am looking forward to doing them again hopefully next week, if not for sure for week three when our house will be divided, Steelers vs Eagles.  Luckily my couch is comfortable! :P
