Title: If your on the fence about an SRG
Post by: TMB on April 12, 2018, 08:39:48 AM
Was emailing  rwalters some pictures of my SRG cooks (trying to get him to get one)  before they are gone.

Since CharBroil has stopped production of these great cookers there are  going to be harder to find.   I have two SRG's now and will pick up one more I hope before they are gone.

I have sent emails to CB hoping they will have a newer version but that does not seem to be the case  :( :(      Anyway, here is another use for an SRG  "Baking"

These are picture from years ago but after rwalters asked the question  If I were standing inside Lowe's or Home Depot, and you were an employee on the sales floor, how would you sell me on the SRG (what makes it stand out)?

I'd thought of all the reasons to get one but this is one of my favorite uses for my SRG's.   I can bake cornbread or anything in a cast pot in half the time of an oven.     Kimmie loves the SRG for wings and yardbirds but really loves the way bread turns out in it

OBTW....  CharBroil came out with a CAST POT to "BAKE" in soon after I posted this :D :D  Gee wonder what made them think of it??

I have a couple of cooks in my TBE, BEESR and SRG.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

As requested..I made naan garlic bread by throwing it against the side of the cooker, but used tongs to take them off..then I made jalapeno poppers.. over chicken wangs.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Not scolding here..but - PLEASE add descriptions to what you cooked....
Otherwise - it is just photo dumping, and we cannot do that per the terms of our hosting agreement.

Besides - people DO want to know what is pictured...and how you did it. ;) ;D

Cornbread... 2 1/2cups corn meal   3 tbsp flour    2 eggs   1 1/2 cups butter milk and 2 tbs oil.    Spray 8 in. cast pot with non stick spray. Fill pot and place in preheated  Big Easy

Normaly I do not pre-heat a Big Easy/ SRG but it helps to have the chamber hot before placing cast pot into chamber.  Cook around 18 to 25 mins

Bread/pizza crust...   2 cups bread flour, 1 pkg of instant yeast, warm water (about 1 cup with Tbs sugar) 2 Tbs olive oil and tsp salt (or to taste)  mix well and let raise till double in size.  Either make a loaf of bread or devide into 2 parts and make the top and bottom crust for stuffed pizza.  Tkaes about 25 mins to cook bread 25 to 30 for the stuffed pizza

Both of these recipes are for an 8 in cast pot, cooked on HIGH setting lid "UP" for SRG and lid mesh lid "ON" for TBE
