OK,its put together, tell me about rust and SRG?

OK,I want it to last and saw some rust issues from folks.

Now that inner liner basket pops right out,so treat that like a cast iron cure right? Now how about the other liner, that has screws at the top? If I remove screws does it pull out? Should it also get the lard treatment, both sides?

Finally, the actual black outer shell, does inside of that also get treated, and is rust an issue there?

I dont mind tearing it down if I can make it last a lot longer, and cant see why it wouldnt last forever if metal properly rust proofed.

OK ladies and gents ,tell me all I need to know please.

Thanks,Mr and Mrs Spuds.

Season the inside & outside of the pot.
Do not season the liner of the cooker , it needs to be shiny to work it's best.
I cover mine with a 55 gal drum liner bag.

LA is right season both sides of the chamber with oil, if you use something like Pam spray it will flake off and not stay.
Season the great  real good and wipe the chamber down with oil after every two or three cooks just to keep it well seasoned

As for cleaning out the chamber, I wipe mine out after it cools and will scrape the large stuff off when it builds up.

NEVER use oven cleaner or pressure washer on the chamber  ??? ??? ???  you can cause the bottom to break loose  >:(

I have had my Big Easy for years and no issues. Honestly I pretty much abused it and it still works. Left outside all the time with no cover. Never had any rusting issues. I would just chip the built-up gunk out on the very bottom and season the interior with oil from time to time.

I have two Big Easy's. One for home that runs on natural gas and a camping one that uses propane.

But mine have not got the miles like Tommy's does so he would know how really durable they are.

I suppose you could upgrade the hardware to stainless. But other than that just use the thing and enjoy it.

The darker the interior becomes the better it will cook.

But mine get a hard work out, harder than most will see and they coming back for more.

Great units, just wish the other grills they built lasted like these
