Big easy srg grate cleaning
« Reply #-1 on: August 05, 2016, 03:21:56 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on the best way to clean this porcelain grill grate after cooking. I do run the grill on high for 15 to 20 minutes after cooking till it stops smoking but I was wondering how to get the residue off the grate without damaging it?

Although I don't own the newer version grate I would say you can soak it in vinegar then scrub clean with a nylon brush

Not sure about the porcelain but usually nasty grates need an overnight soak in hot soapy water or a few hours in ammonia before scrubbing.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion

Your self cleaning oven will work but expect a lot of smoke if really dirty. Have all the windows open.

Or place in your gas grill all burners on high with hood down for like an hour.

I just use my wire brush after running it on high for 15 minutes. Works for me  :)

This does work. And you don't need much. Just a cup full, and seal up in a garbage bag. I think it is the fumes and not the liquid that does it

All I do with my porcelain grate is let it cook for 15-20 minutes while I pre heat the SRG, then I take the flat metal scraper on the grate brush and break up the top crustys then use the wire brush to clean the grooves.
