Rubs
« Reply #-1 on: November 08, 2016, 11:13:45 AM »
So I'm looking at picking up some different rubs to try.  I'm starting from scratch, so I'll be looking to pick up all types.  I will probably do more chicken than anything else, but who knows.  I plan to do it all!  So, what would y'all suggest?  Are good rubs available at local stores or are some of the better ones only available online?  I have read where rubs with little to no sugar content are best because those burn too badly in the TBE.  So I assume I should be looking for rubs with little to no sugar.  Thanks in advance!

I hope Tommy will chime in. Even though I am the resident "rub-pusher" around here, I think you have to watch the sugar content in rubs when using infrared.

Low sugar is recommended for sure.    If doing  pork or chicken I like to use Bad Byron's butt rub really good flavor and can find just about anywhere.

Plane salt, pepper and garlic powder works well on anything.    If making you can use gunpowder or a good coffee rub

Really depends on what your cooking

Now, if you can talk Sparky into selling you some of his Voodoo rub i highly recommend it for yardbirds.     Stuff is outstanding and it gets Kimmie's approval   and that's hard to do

Speaking of which I'm low on it Sparky  ;) :D :D
