BESRG not heating correctly
« Reply #-1 on: October 17, 2020, 11:21:39 AM »
My BESRG has suddenly stopped heating as high as it used too. After 15 minutes the temperature is only 305 degrees. I never tested the temps in the past, but I know it was way higher. I checked the fire ring and each hole has a flame so no blockage, but the flames are tiny. Now some here would be happy to get the temps that low. I've learned how to cook with the higher temps and would like them back. Does this sound like problems with the fire ring, or a regulator maybe?

A few things can cause this.  The gas tank itself can have a faulty valve the regulator can be bad which does happen, also the ring may have a blockage from spider webs.  Remove the fuel line and blow out the ring will generally fix that issue.   Have you tried another tank?

I don't know the besrg but if it has an on/off/control valve on it.  Try this.

Make sure the on/off valve is off.

Open the propane tank valve.  Then turn if back off.

Bang/knock whatever the bottom of the tank down against something very solid two or three times.

SLOWLY turn the tank on again and see how your flames are now.

Propane tanks these days have a safety valve that sometimes trips when it thinks the valve is being opened too quickly.  PITA they can be.
