How do you keep the smoke going on low?
« Reply #-1 on: May 14, 2014, 08:11:52 PM »
I have tried the tommy ring and the box. The smoke rolls good when it's cranked up to high, but when I lower the setting, it stops. Any suggestions?

My SRG stays on high for all my cooks.  I've never found any reason to cook any other way and my meat never dries our.  As to the smoke, it must have high heat to burn the chips or pellets in the SRG.  I've had the fire department come to my house because of the smoke.  Now, when they get a call about fire at my address  they call me first on my cell so they don't have to crank up those big red trucks.  Dee

Hi cyber,   reason the wood goes out is there is no air flow to keep it going.

There are ways to fix this issue, one is to install four air nozzles (90 degree bend in them) in the bottom of the chamber. This is one mode I did and works great for this issue.

Another way is to use pellets and get them going good before you turn the temp down.
OR you can try this way,  get a small piece of screen (stainless steel)  sorta bend it in a way as to keep the wood or pellets off the bottom (air flow under wood) this helps quit a bit as well

The SRG and TBE chambers were not meant to have wood/pellets in them so air flow is your issue.  Just ry my ways and if still having an issue PM me

Here is a set of pictures that show the air nozzles

You can get them at a hardware any store

Does this make it more likely that a uncontrollable fire starts?
