Title: TRI TIP n BABY BACKS on PBC
Post by: Smokin3d on March 25, 2017, 09:01:16 PM
Found TRI tip at Kroger the other day and picked up baby backs for the PBC. TRI tip was 2.1 pounds took 45 mins and pulled at 130 degrees and wow is it good!!! As they call it poor mans prime rib I would have to agree man is it tasty! All I put on it was farm dust seasoning.
The ribs I used kosher salt and pepper and at the end big red rib glaze. The boy and ole lady can't stop eating it.

Thanks all. This my first time ever with tri tip (never heard of it till I joined here) and will definitely be making again.
The ribs well I just finished them for breakfast along with some tri tip and can of BIG RED.
As for the big red rib glaze I will be making it again. The left over rib glaze makes a GREAT dipping sauce! I was dipping my ribs in it. As we were eating it we were trying to figure out what to do with left over glaze and decided that it would be great on chicken so tonight or tomorrow I will be doing chicken quarters on pit barrel with big red rib glaze. A new thread will be started.

Was the beef a rectangle as it appears? It looks great. Tri tip is more of a triangle shape. Just curious

The PBC can really do a tri-tip justice. Your ribs look excellent.

Thanks! Matter of fact it was more of rectangular shape. When I went to Kroger I asked the butcher if he had tri tip and he took me to it. I don't no if they cut it or not but it was labeled tri tip and is a lean cut I can tell you that. Pappy after you said that I looked at tri tip pics and your right more of a triangle shape and mine was not. But very very tasty!

Both look delicious.

I agree that tri tip comes out great on the PBC. But then, what really doesn't??

ZAK I have to agree I have had nothing come off the PBC that was bad yet!

I always thought Big Red was cinnamon flavored gum.  Never knew it was a soda (or pop, as my Minnesota in-laws call it).
