Title: We Might As Well Tell Y'all

Well we might as well share it with our forum friends.

Some of you know that in April my wife and I went to Germany so my wife could meet her sister for the first time.
Yeah the social media works well.

My wife was born in Germany on base, her mother moved her and her 2 brothers back to the states while her biological father stayed in Germany with the AF. Well i guess the grass was greener in a German lady’s yard. HA so you can figure out the rest. My wife and her half sister clicked like they been together forever. Both have the same expressions, talk the same and so on. We hated to go but had to get back to the furry kids. When we got back to S, FL from Atlanta my wife was like really bummed (that aint like her) I said whats wrong? I need to be closer to my sister (my wife grew up with 4 brothers) I said do you want to move to Germany? I got the look and a big Yes. Well we have lots of ducks to get in the pond then. My wife did 4 years in Germany in the USAF.

We went to the German Consulate in Miami, Got much info, papers and more info. Over the past few weeks we have gotten our Visa pics, All our medical, pensions, banking info squared away. Got the kids together on it and come to find out one of them wants to buy the house up north. (1 major thing out of the way) As far as the 5th wheel we should have no problem selling it as we have not had it on the road. All of our small items, small appliances and such are going to be split up with the kids. I am taking my stuffers, smoker as it can be converted to 220. Dont know yet about taking any dry rubs or sausage ingredients.

My wife’s sister had an appointment on 6/6 to talk to the local agency and get more papers for us and some very good news. Germany wants to make sure we are financially & medically covered for living in Germany. They require a German Bank as well as keeping a US based bank. Still have to check into our Honda on whats all involved. Still lots to do yet.


Please if any forum members are on FB with me or my wife all we ask is please do not post there about this.

Anyways we are hoping for a move date of Aug/Sept of 2018.

Congrats on the move to Germany Rick! I loved Germany when I was stationed there in the mid 70's. My lips are sealed on Facebook!  ;)

Wow Rick, that's some big news!   I want to go to Germany some day, since most of my ancestry is from there.  Everyone I know who's been there has loved it.

I will admit of feelings of jealousy, combined with happiness for you two.

And... I still have a pair of lederhosen that I can bring to wear while exploring the hills and pastoral beauty of Bavaria...? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I already did research on smokers and grills. Traeger did there testing of the new poopers in Germany. OK Joe and a few others are over in the UK & Germany. Since we will be back in a house i'm thinking .........well i'm thinking  :o :o :D

Makes me wonder how it is so hard for people from the US to enter and live Germany compared to someone from Pakistan.

If you want to come to Canada all you have to do is walk across in Emerson Manitoba. So many coming now the news is not allowed to cover it.

I located some sources in Germany & UK for fermentation, casings and such.
