Title: Mak can definitely sear
Post by: Lemonhead78 on January 16, 2019, 06:47:11 PM
Did a ny strip and some pork chops. I actually think the mak set to grill is too hot. I’m gonna try grilling at 400 setpoint next time. One of the steaks actually caught fire. I assume from the fat on the side of the strip caused it . I really love my grill and I’m glad I can use it for everything. I’m really going to work On taking better pics in the future. I always remember half way through eating dinner that I should take a pic . On a side note I seasoned both with killer hogs all purpose seasoning. It’s really tasty. Looks great .The MAK on “Grill” is like a self cleaning oven hot. I agree that a lower set temp may work nicer

Man that looks good! I agree with your assessment... the Grill setting is just to hot for most cooks. Almost all of my grilling is done at 425-450° depending on what it is I am cooking.

The steak was delicious. I was surprised that the steak had a smokiness to it which we enjoyed as well. I was under the impression that with the high heat that it wouldn’t produce smoke. It was smoky and also didn’t consume as many pellets as I imagined.

Sounds like you are enjoying the heck out of your MAK... and it sounds like you are getting it nice and dirty, eh I mean seasoned, on the inside? :)

Really enjoying the mak!!! I’ve been doing the foil thing but it’s getting old quick. Seems like grease somehow gets through the foil anyways. Not sure how but it does. I may throw in the towel soon and just use the grill naked lol.
