Title: Nike+ app
Post by: muebe on July 03, 2013, 03:54:24 PM
So I have been using the Nike+ app for my android phone. RAD was the one that suggested I try it and it is a really good free running app. It keeps track of your run times, GPS maps of your runs, and keeps track of your best mile, 1K, 5K, ect.

Anyone looking for a running app IMHO this is the one to use. Thanks RAD ;)

Love running with it. Do you have friends that use it? Helps keep you motivated when you are watching each other.

Alright, this is what I want you to do. I want you to put on a heavy shirt, long pants, combat boots, fill a pack with 50 lbs. of rocks, wear a web belt with two full canteens of water, carry 200 rounds of 308 ammunition, wear a helmet, at all times and run 15 miles without stopping up and down uneven ground.

Then, let me know how you feel and what is your time.

Have a happy fourth,

Ed

Was never my intent to start a pissing contest with this thread Ed. I run to get exercise, feel better and stay healthy. I am not trying to take away anything from the hard work that our military personnel put in everyday. Just thought I would share my impressions of this app with others who might be interested.

If if comes in an app that works for biking I would sure look at it.

My running joy was the 7.62 NATO round.  :D

I am with you CDN. I did the original Iron Man in Hawaii many, many years ago. Never really enjoyed running. But I do love to bike and an app like this for biking would be great. Don't do any competion anymore, but tracking my progress (however, poor) would be great.

I recently started using mapmyrun app for my iphone. It keeps track of your route, calories, mph and mile split time. Its a basic free app. You can create an account and at the end of the bike ride, you can save it on your smartphone and it sends it to the mapmyrun website account where you can view it. Every Monday it will send you an email giving you the results of the previous week. For a free app, I like it.

Muebe: I am just kidding with you. There was nothing serious about what I said. I probably have a distorted sense of humor and would not ask anyone to do such a thing. As a matter of fact, at this stage, I cannot even walk to the mail box.

Have a wonderful fourth of July. And, I apologize if I hurt your feelings.

Ed

PS: I use to do that when I was a young man and had legs. That is probably one of the reasons why I have difficulty walking today.

I didn't run yesterday because my ankle started hurting a little bit otherwise I would have got ya ;)

I learned a while ago when you start feeling pain give a rest for a day. Last time I pushed myself I could not run for a week after :o

Because of a few things I moved on from mapmyride to the Garmin 510
https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/cycling/edge-510/prod112885.html

I have only used it a couple of times but I do like the cadence and heart rate monitor.

Also started at a "Crossfit Gym", dang that is one hard workout.

So i am doing the gym Mon, Wed and Fri. I do a (12.42 miles) bike ride on Tues, Thurs and Sat.

That is real important. I always say that if I hurt to give it a rest and save it for another day.
