Title: Hi from Springfield, Missouri
Post by: SoHappy on November 04, 2013, 04:36:56 PM
I'm happy to be here and excited about learning from you folks and contributing when I can.  I'm just the average backyard "bbqer" trying to please the family and a few friends with my cooking.  My wife said I needed a hobby so I chose this.  Little did she know that grilling and barbecuing is more than just about cooking, it's also about collecting - all the cookers and accessories you can.  She's learning fast though.  Now when I ask about getting a new cooker (she's also my accountant, banker and property manager) she asks which existing grill/smoker I'm willing to give up.  :(  Anyway, I'm SoHappy to be here.  :)

It is best to find something that she can't live without (food wise) that requires a specific cooker.  I managed to convince her an SRG is essential because it is supposed to fry a turkey without oil  ;D

Welcome to the forum!

Plus, it brings smiles to the cook and the receivers of the cook's products.  Welcome from Maine.  You have come to a fun place.

Ron, I am happy you are here too!

I am relatively new to grilling too, but have learned a great deal from the folk that have been at it a long time.

Glad to have you!

Wow, what a reception.  Thank you all.  For the record, I have a terrific wife who likes barbecue as much as, if not more than, I do so she's not really a hard sell.  We lived in Memphis for a number of years which is where she first got the "BBQ Bug".  Now, she's always ready to drive to Kansas City where her favorite BBQ restaurant is Jack Stacks.
