New Char-Broil 3-1 SRG owner in Chicago
« Reply #-1 on: November 12, 2014, 05:06:39 PM »
Howdy. I have been gifted with the CB SRG as an early X-mas/birthday gift just in time for the temperatures to plunge into the 20's and 30's.

I started off over on the Char-Broil forums and read enough of them to feel like I know some of the people there. Then I was crushed to figure out the forum was closed! Who does that? Knowing that the people there are smart enough to cook with fire/IR I looked around and found the post where it said all the friendly people were moving over here. Whew.

So, here I am. I've already started reading the CB SRG forum while waiting to be approved. I'm hoping to get a propane tank this weekend and grill SOMETHING, cold weather be... darned.

Thanks for letting me in.

Cut my teeth, too, on the CB forum.   Think CB made a BIG mistake abandoning it.   Love my SRG, although use it equally with my trusty old CB 940X.   My first cook on my SRG when I got it about two years ago now was a chicken.   Inexpensive enough you can afford to "practice" with it.   Not brave enough to try a prime rib, or even a pork butt.   Know people have success with them on the SRG, BUT, no guts!  Tri-tips are great done on that cooker, IF you can find them.   Easy, easy, easy like a chicken.   Good luck and keep us posted.
