Hey all,

I've always been a fan of smoked and bbq meats and decided to try my hand at it at home.  I picked up a pit barrel cooker and found this forum on google.   Looking forward to learning from you all.

Welcome from North Carolina.  Tell us some more ab out yourself.  Where do you live?  You never know, but you might have a forum member close by.  When you post your cooks, be sure to post pictures, also.  We love food porn here.

Hey all,

Thanks for the warm welcome!   I'm from Massachusetts and just starting to contemplate my first cook.   I've got relatively limited BBQ experience (on the cooking side anyway) so I'm wondering what type of meat to use as my "first victim".  Any suggestions?  :-)

Welcome from the Alien Capitol of the Universe.   You'll love it here.   Suggest chicken for a first cook--at least you won't waste too much money if it doesn't turn out.    Buy a bottle of cheapo Italian Dressing to marinate and baste it with--don't use the dressing you marinate it in--probably contaminated.  Good luck.

Some of my best wings have cooked on my PBC.  My wife even asks if I am cooking wings on the PBC.  Your favorite rub, maybe sauce, and you are good to go.  Crispy wings are just the ticket in our house.
