Just joined the forum last night lots of great information. Right now I am using a masterbuilt 30 with the cold smoker add on. Hopefully  upgrading to a pellet grill in the next 6 months.

Hi from friendly South Dakota! I'm another RecTec owner and recommend that when you get in buying mode on a pellet pooper you consider one. I could NOT be happier with my choice.

Welcome from So-Cal.

I don't brand bash....but you will find much less unhappy Rec Tec owners than Traeger..............of course Traeger probably sells more......just sayin......

A revolving door of cookers and smokers. Some are keepers, some are here today, gone tomorrow!

I should add this: even if you add a pellet grill, dont be to hasty about getting rid of your other cookers, especially the masterbuilt. I have a Bradley and it still see's a LOT of use, even though I've got the Rec Tec. Bacon,  dried beef, jerky, smoked cheese all goes in the Bradley. Got a load of dried beef in her as I type this in fact.

Welcome from North Carolina.  While we are giving pellet pooper plugs, I love my MAK 2 Star.  The new MAK's are even better than the earlier versions.  This is one of those buys you will not have to replace.

Another happy MAK 2 Star owner. And I also own a Rec Tec. Both good products, but - I love the versatility of the MAK, and the upgradeability. MAK has never left an owner of an old machine out in the cold with their up-grades. Even their first series of cookers can be upgraded to current model.

And...if it matters to you...MAK will not even buy a screw from China. The owner is an adamant supporter of American made materials going into his American made products.

If I were you, I would look closely at the MAK 1 Star unit.
