Here is another one of those late night cooks on the MAK. This is another griddle cook but just a great example of the versatility the MAK and MAK accessories bring you.

We have the flame zone covers in place with both griddles installed

Set the MAK to 360 degrees. I like this temp setting when using the griddles.

Grilled up some onions to get things started

Meanwhile in the other griddle we toasted up some buttered asiago infused French bread

Where do we keep the grilled onions and bread to keep them warm while I grill up the patties??????

In the smoker/warming box!!! For someone who never thought I would use it much, I use it almost every cook!!

Speaking of the patties, lets get them on the griddle

Lets put it all together (the asiago bread browned up nicer than the plain french bread did)

Did you know that Texans eat 8 lbs of pickles a year? Yup, heard it on the radio the other day!

So here is a grilled American Classic done on the MAK 2 Star General. There is nothing this grill can't do and it all gets done very well I might add.  :)

Really, is there anything you can't cook on a MAK? If you can cook it on a stove or in an oven, you can cook it on a MAK Grill. Smoke & Wendy, those sandwiches look wonderfully delicious.  I am looking forward to the day when you griddle breakfast on your MAK. Keep up the tasty work!

Why, Yes... I'll take a plate, please!

P.S. Don't you just love those griddles?

Yes Sir Cliff!!  I am glad they are so well made because at the rate we are cooking on them, I am afraid I might wear them out :)

Now I want you all to keep in mind that this is not one of those stuffy "pre-planned" reviews where everything is cooked in "logical clear concise" order.

Nah, as you have probably seen while following this review, there is no order, no rules, just real life cooking.

After all, after you get your new MAK, isn't that how it is going to be used??

OK, so here is one of those: "I wake up early in the morning on my day off, Wendy says there is a small pork butt I got thawed out that I forgot to tell you about" kind of mornings.

I like these kind of mornings!! :)

We were down in Bryan/College Station shopping one weekend and the big HEB there had full pork shoulders for .99 a lb limit two.

Wendy and I were shopping separatately ;)  so we came home with four butts..........nice

I had already trimmed off most of the fat cap and cut them into "butts for two"

I feel there is so much fat deep in the shoulder the fat cap really serves much purpose........except for extra cleaning of the grill.

I scored the top of the butt for more rub coverage.

This rub was just plain SPG  (salt-pepper-garlic)

Into the MAK at 275 degrees and even at this temp we had plenty of smoke.

Once again the MAK did its magic

No buns, no cole slaw.....just a man and his smokey pulled pork

I chopped it instead of shreading it.....look at that beautiful smoke ring......just the MAK.....no smoke tubes or gizmos....you don't need them with a MAK, see y'all soon.

Nice, simple and delicious meal right there. How long did that take at 275°?  Speaking of smoke production, the other day I had the MAK running at 375°, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of smoke coming from it. I had just cleaned it, so I knew it wasn’t burning grease. All I had it there were potatoes that I was baking, so it wasn’t from the drippings... Well, I went out to roll the lid back and check on things. Everything was fine, it was just the MAK doing his thing...even at a cooking temp of 375°. Compared to my old “T” and even after being a MAK owner for more than 2 years now, I still find myself saying “seriously!” more often than not when cooking on the MAK... lol.
