funny coincidence? --- Miss Laura requested lobster too and it's been on sale so I picked up two tails. Gonna slice raw into medallions, saute and finish with pan sauce of clarified butter, crispy shallots, garlic parsley and touch of anchovy paste - squeeze of lemon, of course. Serve over her favorite angel hair pasta tossed in lemon infused olive oil. Hot slices of crunchy baguette and chilled mixed greens tossed in champagne vinagarette and dessert is .... ballroom dance class.    8)

This bird was just coming out of the SRG when you posted.  My church group meets on Thursdays and I didn't want to cancel it cause I have two singles who aren't dating, one going through a divorce, and two more who have husbands out to sea.  So we will have a date night later in the week to celebrate Valentines.

My wife doesn't like lobster  :'(
My oldest daughter (14  ???) invited her boyfriend to dinner (he is coming early before she gets home to put up a sign on the front door... ::) )
So, I have been drafted to make the family favorite - pizza - but heart shaped... Should be lots of fun!

Barry that sounds delicious! Most people say "yuck" when you mention anchovy paste but it brings out a great flavor in cooking. I use pretty much the same ingredients with the addition of white wine and capers when I cook scallop or shrimp to serve over pasta. I will have to try it with the lobster next time.

Since Thursday night has been date night for over ten years at our house we will be meeting a few couples at the pub, hopefully they will have a Valentine's Day special. My wife's favorite special occasion meal is lobster and filet mignon on the grill so I will probably do that one day this weekend since it has finally quit raining here. Pretty simple meal, I buy those large lobster tails at Sam's and their thick beef tenderloins. I have to butterfly her filet so that I can get hers to a med well without turning the outside to charcoal. A good mixed green salad, some clarfied butter to dip the lobster in and a good wine. Makes for a romantic dinner.

Valentine's Day is more like an anniversary for me.
You see, I met my wife on a blind date on 02/06/88. For Valentine's Day she asked me to come over to her house for an authentic Italian dinner. Stuffed Manicotti with a side of some good Italian sausage and fresh bread. Oh...and all the beer I wanted.
Good stuff for a 22 year old living with 3 of his buddies.  ;D

We laugh now, as the dinner was called the "hook, line and sinker" dinner. And that it was. We married 18 months later.
Valentine's Dinner is and will alway be, a special dinner for me.

She is making me Paella tonight. Yea, not Italian, but I'm not complaining.

Happy Valentine's Day to all you romantic's out there.  ;)

Great story Sam. My wife's 'hook, line and sinker" dinner was early when we were dating. She invited me to come over for a shrimp low boil. She had a low boil with red potatoes, corn, good South Alabama smoked sausage, seasoned with halved lemons and onions and Old Bay and Zatarains and other secret herbs and spices. After she got the shrimp and veggies out she cut off the fire and then dropped in some of those great Apalachicola oysters down into the hot broth. She left them in just enough for the shells to pop open, then pulled them out. Those oysters soaked up all that spicy goodness and I was done. There should be a law against doing stuff like that.
