Travel Channels Master Griller show called GRILLED!
« Reply #-1 on: September 04, 2013, 08:18:03 AM »
Did anyone else here get contacted by these folks to be on their show?

I did and have made it passed the NYC Casting company and was contacted by the Shows Associate Producer Saturday telling me I had one more hurdle. Today at 10am I have an hour long phone interview with a Producer.

In my Skype interview where they all could see me but I could not see them they quizzed me by throwing crazy meats and ingredients at me to see how I would grill them up.

All I do know about the show is there will be regional contest leading I think to a final championship. Philly, Wash DC, Baltimore, Annapolis, Richmond and somewhere in NC.

If you know me I have the most competitive nature of anyone you will meet. When asked at the end "why would you want to be on Master Grillers?" I replied...

"I have an overwhelming compulsion to beat anyone you thinks deserves to be on the show against me."

Any of y'all get the call? Good luck!!!

Dang...I've been away from the phone for a while.  I'll have to go back and check my voice mail.

I'll let you know.

By the way, Mike, I can't wait to see you in the competitions.  I have you on "monkey see" - whatever that is - and enjoy those videos a lot.

1.5 hours talking with that Producer Lady and I am 99% sure I will be on the Show! Final word soon but she loved me and my story and attitude and personality. The show will film in 3 weeks in Annapolis for I think $10,000.
Wow!
Gonna have to crack a beer here at noon and soak this all in. POP!

Lol thanks for the encouragement guys!!!

Hearty congratz!  Not many make it to TV BBQ-land, and it would be great to see a forum member make it to the big time - the $10k wouldn't hurt either

Best of luck, and I'll be sure to record the program

Thanks guys and gals.
Today I start some very intense homework and studying. The show will be filmed in Annapolis MD which is on the Chesapeake River so first is to find out what is being caught fresh from the River at this time of year thinking they will want to use something from the region.

I'll be going to Butchers and big Meat Markets with different Grilling Mentors and talk about every Cut and type of meat that could possible be thrown at me. Same thing with a different mentor at Fruit and Vegetable Markets.

With short time factors I will focus on Rubs and Season combinations and not marinades.

Another friend will be helping me with Plating using Style, Color Combinations and Height.

I look and act like a Cartoon but I will be an encyclopedia of Grilling knowledge.

Thanks again folks for the encouragement!

Here is a pic of Rutledge Wood and Kyle Petty and I at Bristol just cus I can now post pics. Lol love this Tapatalk App!
