Lost my best friend this morning
« Reply #-1 on: September 25, 2013, 05:17:38 PM »
My best friend and companion left us this morning...

Abigail Rose, an 11-year-old chow mix rescue puppy, passed in her sleep with my bride at her side.

She was the kindest and gentlest dog in the world and she will be sorely missed.

May she rest in peace. There will be always be a hole in our heart.

I am very sorry for your loss. I still have a hole in my heart after 25 years for my Red Setter, Damian. I know the cliché is that a dog is man's best friend - but it is true. My thoughts are with you and your wife.

I am very sorry to hear that.  Them rascals sure have a way of integrating themselves into our families, and hearts don't they? I know our little Jack Russel sure has.

My thoughts & prayers are with you!

I was cooking tonight and had scraps to put in her bowl for treats.. then I realized there weren't any bowls by the refrigerator.

Chef, so very sorry to hear of you and your family's loss. You have my condolences. We lost our Gizmo in June, and I know it's not an easy transition to life without your best friend. They are always there.....and when they are not, it's gut-wretching at first. But in time the pain eases, the thoughts are of the very best of times, and a smile or laughter is shared amongst yourselves. Just like our human family and friends when they pass, we mourn them, but we are proud that our lost friend was a part of our lives. It's been about 3 1/2 mos. and I wouldn't have thought I would be ready for another dog for at least a year, but I think I'm ready to have a new friend. My wife was Gizmo's mother (because of the sad circumstances of how he came into the world) and her thoughts were early on that she may not ever be ready. She told me last week, that she is ready. So we are in the market for a new friend.  Life goes on, and we gotta go on as well. Again sir, we are sorry for your loss and hope that one day your hearts will open up again.

My condolences for your loss. I have had a pet bird die in my hands and the sadness of that moment has stayed with me ever since.

I'm sorry, Mike.

I have lost a couple of dogs, though it has been a number of years ago. Both of them helped me through some difficult times of my life.
