He makes some interesting points, but many / most of them could apply to a variety of cookers. Probably the unique part is the design / cost / unique appearance.

Agree - I've the BGE mini, and while it is a fun novelty, I do not think it cooks better than any other charcoal device I've used in the past.  My mother had one of the original Kamados back in the 1970s, and it too did not do a better job than the Weber. From what I've experienced, the main difference is that the ceramic retains much heat, so when the lid is opened and then closed, temperature is not affected that much.  The take home lesson - don't open the lid  ;D

As to cult... I'm in the cult of food  :P

Right now, I am in the cult to recovery so that I can hike 4 miles round trip without getting medevaced out of there. Then I plan to join the fly for fish for any kind of trout cult and stay there.

I am definitely with you in the fly cult - although I will try a fly for virtually any species.
