Cold smoke question
« Reply #-1 on: February 06, 2014, 05:32:12 PM »
Cold here today.  Snow and low 20.  I know some get colder but cold is good for cold smoking.  Picked up some pellets I left at mother n laws during the move.  But forgot the amazing tube.   What can I use to smoke some cheese until the snow melts and I can get back up to here house.

Tried making a boat out of aluminum foil but didn't want to stay lit and smoking.  Maybe poke some holes I it?

Thanks

Think about how you to a fuse burn with charcoal.... set up your pellets that way in the aluminum. Once lit, just bow out the flame ( after it has caught really good).

Try a few lit charcoal briquettes & a foil pouch of pellets...

...or a chunk of wood like this:

This was how I did all of my cold smoking before I got a pellet tube.

P.S. if you use the pellet pouches, BE SURE you poke only ONE single small hole in the foil pouch!  Replace with a fresh pouch after about 45 minutes.

Never tried it but maybe one charcoal lit then surround with pellets in a donut shape, Not sure if that would create to much heat for a cold smoke.

I think I got my aluminum tube working.  Had to get the pellets going more.  Been going for an hour. Will post picture of it later.
