Yes it's not good news but you still have to eat so it won't slow me down. At a 150 a liter for gas I thought I would never be driving my truck but its still on the road so the higher prices of meat are just one more challenge to get through.  ;)

I agree, we always figure out something to do to make up for extra-added-on-costs to our basic essentials, but sadly more and more of our fun goes by the wayside to offset costs. The rising gasoline prices to me are a sham. Barrel prices down....pump prices up. But the meat prices on the rise, we knew the drought would have a bad effect on the pocketbook.

Reminds me of a joke.....

A man walks into a Washington DC catholic church confessional. He says to the priest,"Bless me Father for I have sinned. Last night, I attacked and brutally beat up a congressman. I actually wanted to finish him off!"
The priest responded, my son, I am here to discuss your forgiveness of sins, not to discuss your community service work!"

Luckily I have enough meat in the freezer for quite a few cooks and I watch the paper each week for meat that is on sale.

No...let's not make it political ??? ??? ???......But, it is fine to look for answers to the dilemma. One potential answer may be that after all o fthe mergers and acquisitions in the meat packing industry - there are only 4 remaining companies that are large enough to service grocers on a regional or national basis. It is not hard to imagine that when there are only 4 big competitors, a "summit meeting" or 2 between the players may be in order. That - smells of potential price fixing to me -
