Title: Tee eats EE-TALL-EE....ALBUMS #2 & #3 NOW POSTED
Post by: teesquare on October 04, 2015, 11:20:14 AM
I am sorry for the long delay on starting this thread....I shot approx 12,000 pictures. No auto bracketing, No continuous shutter. Really shot 12,000 pictures.
SO - this is the first link to a new ( to me) photo album on-line called SmugMug. The ease of use, and customization + their amazing customer support is the BEST...I really like that you can start with their free service - or go all of the way up to commercial level. Really versatile for storing full size images. None of these had had ANY adjustments. They are full resolution JPGS and some need to be straightened a little. Some were taken from an open topped tour bus - between the 2 "safety rails" - which you may see in some shots. I may be able to crop some of that ourt - but in context, it was where I was - and how I saw Rome in that shot. I have the full RAW files that I can process  into much better finished photos - but...time is the one commodity I cannot buy more of.... ;D

What I have in this album is ONLY Rome. There are several more to come - including one for food only.  Please let me know of any issues, or difficulties when opening or viewing, as this is my first attempt. Hope you like 'em!

Thanks David! I think you will like exploring SmugMug. Look at all of their options. I think it is the best site available for photos.

Thanks Spark! - It took a couple of close ups of the Trump...one of the tank that I may print. Will try to load it and another one....

Quite a trip  :)

This was just the Rome time...The really scenic "Old Italy" towns, building and countryside are coming soon.... ;)

Beautiful photos Tee!!! Thanks for sharing and great slide show!!! Now I can say I toured Rome! Don

Thanks Don! I shot almost everything with the 12-40/ f 2.8 Pro lens. There are a few Rokinon 7.5mm/ f3.5 fisheye shots for fun. No flash used in any of these. And...there are a few I will "fix" minor issues with and print.

Amazing pictures and so much history to be told in those pictures. Nice!!

Thanks Aaron!
Some good...some mediocre...a lot of just "tourism on vacation" quality. But all were handheld, and most shot while moving, so..I felt the camera overcame my insufficiencies pretty well. :D

See, and here I was thinking, "A Lotus 7!  How often to get to see a Lotus 7?"

Great pictures, Tee!!  Brought back a lot of memories from our trip to Italy.

BD,
The Lotus 7 was really cool.  Tee really should have taken more pictures of that car.  I remember having my picture taken next to a new RED Ferrari in Tuscany.  I actually got to follow him out of town while driving a Mercedes.  He took the corners much faster than I dared take them, but I kept him in sight until there was a nice strait-away.  Then it was good bye Ferrari!  One can always dream.

Thanks Mike! I was most surprise dby the low light - no flash performance. it has never beent he strong suite of Olympus. But - this camera has a 5 axis in body image stabilization. So, you can hand-hold shots at a much slower shutter speed. I did not try  to correct the color - as I like to remeber the lighting as it really was. THe use of high pressure sodium light at night really give things a different look....

Just thinking . . . your film bill would have been astronomical back in the old days  :o

I can't remember what I paid for the last roll of Kodachrome I used in my old Nikon SLR, but your digital camera paid for your trip!  That is my wife's kind of economics, anyway  ::)

What the Building with the polished ball or sphere?  It looks like your seeing a portal into another place.

Tim, you are a good picture taker. How many memory cards did you take?

8 - 64 gig cards..... ;D It was a "numbers game"...The more you take - the more likely you get one or two keepers... ;) :D

It looks like you guys had a great time . buuut i did not see one gelateria you don't like ice cream ?  :)

Those pics are coming...my hands were shaking in one gelateria...150 flavors!!!! :o 8)

Some beautiful pics Tim!

A whole lot to go through!

Thanks Mike! - but...what you are seeing in that album is about 265 shots out of 12,000 ???...I am trying to assemble the best of the Tuscany shots today. Hope to have that album up soon, as in by lunch. We will test the limits of our T-1 's bandwidth  ;D

Great pictures, and amazing history.

Thanks aruckus! - It is an amazing country that can claim: "All roads lead to Rome" as a part of it's historical significance and influence  - because in terms of commerce, military issues, or religion - there was a time that the above adage was true. ;)

Hub - I suppose whatever the cost of buying, and developing 500 rolls of 24 exposure 35mm film would be... Like 1 - kidney? :D

Great pics Tim! Looks like you all had a tremendous time!
But with all the pics you took....how did you ever have enough time to eat and drink? ???

The food pictures deserve a "place of honor"...so I am sorting them into their own album. Trust me Gene...I did not want to come back. And - tho I wince a little when I think of it...Texas may have to take a second position as place I will really retire to. Doing some preliminary work on costs now.

It looks like you guys had a great time . buuut i did not see one gelateria you don't like ice cream ?  :)

That was the courtyard in the Vatican, I can't remember the name of it - but it is before you enter the Vatican Museum. The sculpture in so well balanced on bearings that our tour guide could rotate it, and it would rotate - gliding silently for minutes until it coasted to a stop. I have some additional pic of it showing the interior in detail. Pretty "trippy" looking in person...
The Vatican is the largest repository of "pagan art" in the world. i know that sounds strange - but,it is true......And was told to me by our tour guide who is Italian, Catholic, and hold a PhD. in Archeology - with an emphasis in Roman Catholic History.

Saw 'em all...

Beautiful architecture and I wonder why they don't build 'em like that anymore.

Be sure to bring your camera to Byron, we might take you over to see the old jail.

Here is the next album. It contains scenes of Tuscan towns, and countryside.

Tuscany is not just the "breadbasket" of agriculture in Italy. It is also named for the Etruscans, a civilization that was pre-Roman....

The architecture in this region for me - is even better than Rome.

The pasta was so good - it should required a license to order it too!

Thanks Gene! The food was beyond description. They really do not have a meaning for "organic"...Because they have always farmed that way. There are very few corporate farms in Italy. Mostly small - multi-generation farmers. And because so much of Italy has agriculture - they do not understand the need to ship most foods from one end of their country to the other. Buying local makes economic sense. So, the food ingredients are fresher, which is one contributing factor to great meals.
The charcuterie was off the charts. You are a lucky man to come from such tradition and history.

So they sold XXX rated pasta??!?!

On a serious note, after looking through all these pictures, I am retiring to Italy.  Maybe to my grandmother's home town of Avellino.

My apologies...I removed the photo so as not to offend others. It was not something that I saw when I took the picture folks....

I am not sure of the details yet....I have  a friend from Argentina that will be taking a small group. He is the fellow that is also known for his world class flower cultivas, and figs that can grow in colder climates. Here is the thread about their place near me. I will see if we can include Bariloche.
