Looks like they made a change from what I have on my 36 inch. Mine has a hole in it that also leaked down the leg.
I basically now just absorb the majority of grease with paper towels and don't bother with the grease trap.

Yup no hole in the 28" they do have a spot weld on the bottom which is suppose break the surface tension of it going back under the tray and on the leg. You could try the high heat putty on the underside right brfore the hole and see if that works

I like the iron pipe elbow idea as it does not involve welding (and of course I don't have a welder).   You would think Blackstone would put that little weld right at the end instead of back like that.  I would think that would probably solve the problem.  I definately need to modify mine as I did have the grease want to travel over that little weld and run down the leg a few times when I was cleaning the top after cooking.  I think it is the inrush of a larger amount of grease that caused the problem.

Thanks for the ideas!!!

Tom on my Sizzle Q I use paper towels as seen in this video but you may want to use them in your grease catcher or use  tin foil to make clean up faster. Here is the video that does the same as I do. You just need to put water in with the towels

I don't have a run off & catch pan just a place to hold the grease but this is great for my setup.

To bad the grease tray isn't the same size on the Blackstone as it is on the little griddle

Nope. When I'm done cooking I just use a couple of dry paper towels to suck up any oil. Works for me

They should take the idea from the new Blackstone mini. This is the basic premise I've seen on every griddle I have ever seen. Easy because it works.
