I want one of those. Charcoal Companion has been out a while and they have some neat stuff. Thanks for the review.

I think I would use a damp wash cloth on the counter and then put the slice on top of it. It really works to keep things from slipping around while slicing.

I almost sheared my right index finger off with a boning knive while working back in the late 70's and have been freaked out about sharp blades ever since.

On my to Amazon......thanks Tom. :)

I just put the potato in a big spoon and cut away..doesn't go all the way thru and no extra gadgets..cause I have almost every one out there.. .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Thank you for the review, Tom.  My wife loves for me to make Hasselback potatoes.  That "gadget" should also work for slicing tomatoes uniformly, as well as mozzarella cheese.  I may just have to ask "Santa" for one.

Of course if you're cheap (I am), your kitchen drawers are full (they are), and your spouse has put you on "gadget hold" (she has), you can always set the potato on a cutting surface between two wooden chopsticks and slice away. Same concept as Pam's spoon but I hate slicing down to a metal base with any of our decent knives (and we have an industrial-sized box of chopsticks).

Nice review Tom.  I'm with you on wood part it needs to be longer and a handle would be a nice touch.

With my fat fingers I can see a bandaid being used somewhere along the way :D :D :D ???
