Title: The MAK continues to impress........
Post by: akjeff on January 04, 2019, 10:57:57 PM
Bought a couple nice prime New Yorks the other day for tonights dinner. Meanwhile a high pressure system moves in, and here, that means cold snap! By the time I fired up the 2 Star( fueled with Lumberjack Char Hickory pellets ) this evening, it was -2F. Within 30 minutes, the MAK was at 475F, and on go the steaks. Temps never wavered despite the cold, and we were treated to a pair of perfect steaks, along with green beans and bacon bits. Paired with a nice glass( or two ) of Malbec, and life is good! Have a great weekend folks!

That's awesome. How do you like the Lumberjack pellets? I bought a 40# bag with our GMG Davy Crockett. Only used it once so far, but the flavor was great with the Lumberjack hickory pellets.

I'm extremely happy with the Lumberjack pellets. The Char-Hickory blend produces more searing heat than any other pellets I've tried. Their Oak is a close second, and has great flavor for things like brisket or tri tip. Hickory for pork/chicken, and that about covers every base for me. That said, I don't hesitate using Cookinpellets either. Especially for low and slow, smoking cooks. For grilling/high heat, it's Lumberjack for me. Both are top shelf products.

I'll have to try some Cookin' Pellets this year as well. Supposed to be a nice day again tomorrow, so we are going to get the grill going for our second try.
