The dates for the third annual Fall Gathering have been set---Sep 23-Sep 29. Once again it will be held at the Central Christian Church Recreation Area on Clarks Hill Lake (ake Lake Thurmond) which is about 20 miles up the Savannah River from Augusta, GA. Even though we have the facility from monday thru sunday that is not to say the Gathering goes on the entire time. Here is how it works: I pick up the keys to the campground on monday and go up on tuesday and stay until the following monday. On tuesday I begin getting the area ready as needed. Some folks start showing up on wednesday, some on thursday, some on friday, some on saturday, on even some on sunday. Come for the amount of time you are able even if it is just for a few hours. The church only charges a donation fee of $500 and I think we already have that covered from people like Tim Tucker, so it won't cost you anything to stay. There is a bunk house with toliet and showers which house about 50 males on one side and the same amount of ladies on the other. There are some four cabins which hold 8 each with a bath house a short walk away. You can bring your own cooker if you can. There will be some there for those of us who live close enough to drive...or like Tim who loads up a truck and a trailer. There is a Publix, Super Walmart, and Academy Sports as well as some convience stores within 15 miles or so if you want to buy some food or other things. If you want an idea of how this thing goes go to youtube and search for SOTG Fall Gathering 2011 and that shows the facilities. The video was done by Don Beamer, aka IR2Dum. You can also bring a tent, travel trailer, or motor home as there are hook ups available. The purpose of the Gathering is to share our love of cooking, comraderie, and fellowship. Those who have been before please don't hesitate to comment. I'll be putting our detailed info as we get closer to the event. Now is the time to start planning your work schedule so you can be there. Thanks, Dee

I'm in save Kimmie and I a spot!
For those who have never been to a gathering make a point to be there.
Food, fun, food and more fun!

There are 2 cabins with 10 beds in each. No Mattresses, but there are 5" thick pieces of faom to sleep on. Very comfortable. Donna and I have our own cabin. It has air conditioning and a heater in case it gets cold. There is also a ceiling fan in the cabin. Lots of room. I suggest you bring some spray Lysol and Febreeze because it is closed up and that gets rid of the musty smell. Showers are not too far away. Very comfortable. Bring a sleeping bag and your pillow and bankie. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

About late august/early september I'll be asking for a head count. It doesn't have to be locked in or anything. Just to give me a kind of idea of how many will be there. Dee

Rick, hope your better half can make it.
This will give Kimme another person to chat with! I'm sure she will tell her how nuts I am about cooking!!! ??? ???

Folks - Dee Stafford is who I want to be when I grow up! What a great time we have at the FG!
You will not find a more gracious, and relaxing place to have a wonderful weekend+. The folks that attend the FG are truly the nicest. And the food!!!! WOW - you need to start fasting the week before you arrive - in order to make enough room in your clothes - or go ahead and buy the "Big Boy Stretch Pants" - and have 'em ready!
I will be there to provide an easy target for humor, and who knows - maybe by then I will have figured out how to cook something! ;D

Hey folks, I just wanted to remind y'all of the dates for the Gathering in September since I've had a few inquires about the dates. So, look at your schedules and start planning accordingly. If you're new and wondering what in the world I'm talking about, please read the first post here and I've tried to explain it as clearly as my limited communication skills allow. ;) Dee

Your favorite dishwashers plan to be there again.
It is so good to be able to eat the food and "chew the fat" with some of the nicest folks on earth.
-
I hope to make it this year but may not be able due to heavy work at that time of year.

Why book a room? We have lots of space - even indoors - at the camp. Contact Dee ( deestafford ) via PM or e-mail, and let him know what your needs are, and he can tell you what is available - either on site, or nearby.
Shoot - IR2dum ( Don ) always pitches a tent. The weather has been really nice the last two years. And there is a bunkhouse for the guys, and cabins for the girls...etc..

Last year i bunked across from Tommy.....ZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZ. Didnt even hear Art on the other side.

Don't forget Barry was in the same room! ;) ;)

For anyone who flies in we will pick up and return to the airport. Not on the same day unless that is what you want. ;) Dee

Need to see where we can park the RV at the lake somewhere. Dont think we can drive it up the rd to the gathering site.
-
There's no problem getting an RV up there. Old Dave brought his big fifth wheel with his big pickin' up truck. There's water and 'lectricity hook up as well as a dump station. I'll be there on tuesday thru sunday and leave on monday. So you can come up anytime and be in good shape and relax before TeeSquare and Art get there and start botherin' you. Dee

Dee,
How can you even think such a thing, much less say it? That almost sounds like a CHALLENGE!
Beware!!

Art and Tee, I was just alerting him to the "possibilty" of his peace and quite being altered upon y'all's arrival as I'm sure the thought had never entered his mind. Dee
