Title: First SEGASO
Post by: nepas on January 12, 2012, 05:17:20 PM
This will be our fisrt SO....Smoke Out here in Georgia. Going to call this one the SEGASO.

We have had 3 when we lived in PA, Called NEPASO, North East PA SmokeOut.

The Date.

June 23rd 2012

Start time is tentative at 10am or whenever you get here.

Will have all sorts of goodies to eat and if you want to bring something thats great. I'm going to try not to be cooking so much so i can sit and BS with everyone. Will have adult beverages and soda, tea, water. There is a pool and play area at the clubhouse, I will get more info on the use of the pool.

And like always your invited no matter where you are or what kinds of smokers you have.

We do have a club house here for use or do we want to just set up easy ups?

Some members will be coming from a distance and have asked for hotels close by.

Hotels in the area. They are pretty clean and look new.

As someone who used to travel to that area a lot in my old job the Port Wentworth area is the best to stay in. Hotels as nice as the airport and about 35% less. There is a nice small seafood shop near Rincon that I used to stop at that carried fresh off the boat seafood.

We are on 21 heading towards Rincon, 2 miles from I 95, Some nice new hotels right by 95.

There's also a little BBQ place, I think called The Front Porch, between Rincon and Springfield that has an excellent sandwich.  Ate there when passing thru in May.  When I stay in Savannah I stay at the Ramada right off I95 and Hwy 21.  Nothing fancy just a place to sleep. Ron, that little seafood place in Rincon is pretty good.  Dee

The clubhouse is rented for June 23. We can have a grill or 2, There is a kitchen but no microwave. There are 10, 8' tables and 80 chairs for use.

I asked about Friday the 22nd. She told me i will have to check that date closer to June.

We will get more info this week sometime.

Need some input here on the rules of the clubhouse which i really dont agree with. I got the fax yesterday from the HOA.

1. Open from 9 am to 10 pm (must be done and clean by 10 pm) I can understand this

2. No alchohol permitted

3. No use of the pool, spa, or play ground areas by guests of the registered users of the clubhouse? WTH...They say liability issues?    Any miss use of this part and my deposit will not be returned and my clubhouse use will be denied and code taken out of the security system. I hate HOA's.

So do we do the clubhouse?  Y/N

Or just have the SO at the house?

My vote goes to the house. Hell with the HOA and those stupid rules.

Let me know

Looks like its going to be at the house. Just not liking the non use of the pool.

Going to hook up some cool misters on the easy ups. Its all good.

So...if we can't use the pool as a "pool"....can we still use it as a urinal???   JUST KIDDING FOLKS....

I merely joke that perhaps the HOA presumes  "Smoke Out"...or "BBQ" is a band of rubes and ruffians. I can assure you I am a gentleman of the highest order....At least  that is what I told the judge after they had to call in a helicopter, and have EMT's repel down to pluck me off that wind-mill....naked.... ;D ;D ;D

I would say yes if you have folding chairs. Since my neighbor is not here we wont have all the chairs he could use from the school. It will work out.

Here are some directions if driving on I 95 N & S. Most of the Port Wentworth hotels are located right there at exit 109.

Driving from the North

I 95 S to GA Exit 109. Take a right at bottom of ramp. This is GA Hwy 21. Drive approx 2.5 miles to the Rice Mill development. This will be the long left turn lane. Careful for the heavy truck traffic.

Driving from South

Take I 95 North to GA exit 109 (last exit in GA) Take the ramp and turn left onto Hwy 21. Approx distance is the same as above.

If your coming from other points please PM me for my address for your GPS.

I have been asked to see how many are attending?

If you want to post here thats fine. There are 2 other forums that have members going to be here.

Thanks

UPDATE

How many Lets Talk BBQ forum members are for sure going to attend?

Reason i ask is we have folks from 2 other forums going to be here and need to get a good idea of what to buy for how many.

My wife informed me that she MAY not be here for the SO. She has to testify in an EEO complaint filed against the FAA and Fayettville, NC  ATCT Manager.   :-\ Hope its not our date.

Post here or PM me and i will update as we go.

Friday evening we are going to the Crab Shack to eat and drink adult style. We might need a few DD.

Already sent you a PM on the pelletsmoking.com forum, which brings up a good question...

Since Art & I are members of two of those forums, does that mean we have to eat & drink twice as much? :o ;D

Actually, I am a member of the three forums.  No way can I eat that much.  Drink, that is another story.  Don't forget to let Rick know if you will be there on Thursday night for dinner.  I plan to cook Tacos al Carbon for whoever shows up.  I'll need to get my grocery list updated in time for dinner.
