Green Tomatoes to Fry
« Reply #-1 on: August 03, 2014, 10:27:12 AM »
It is a good thing I have been able to get some good tomatoes from a veggie stand. My little garden of 6 tomato plants has plenty of tomatoes but they are slow to ripen.

July has been the coolest I can remember for a long time here in NW Ohio. We had two days of 85 to 90 Deg. but all the rest has been 70 to 75 and down to 50 to 60 at night. I had two ripe tomatoes early July but no more the rest of the month. Just this week we are getting up to 80 in the day but still cool at night.

The other day one tomato fell off and saved it. I just picked one more to fry some up for tonight's supper.

You can see below there is no red in there!

I am not aging, just marinating
I think I am starting to age!

Just slice, dip in flour, then an egg wash, then cracker crumbs or bread crumbs and fry in oil and butter to cover the bottom of the pan. Completely green tomatoes will be a little sour, I like ones that are just getting a little red on them, they're a little sweeter. They are good stacked in 3 and pour some cheddar cheese sauce over. Sounds like we're having the opposite weather problem here.  Only a couple of days where we're NOT in the mid 80s to 90s.
