Road Trip To Cherokee, NC
« Reply #-1 on: June 27, 2015, 09:29:16 PM »
Tim and his wife joined my wife and me for a day of sightseeing in Cherokee, NC.  We started out visiting the newly opened Appalachian Fly Fishing Museum.  Really nice exhibits.  A lot to be done in the future, but they are off to a great start.  Next we attended the Cherokee Nation museum.  I’m not one to “read all the captions” under the photos and exhibits, but I did today.  Totally fascinating.  I’d go back there again.

Next was lunch at Granny’s Kitchen.  They only had a buffet lunch, but with a lot of choices.  Tee filled his plate and ate hearty (as usual).  He asked for some hot sauce.  The waitress told him all they had was Hub’s favorite, “TEXAS PETE”.  You can see the expression on Tee’s face.

Tee had some “greens” on his plate that my wife described as looking like “chopped up grass clippings”.  I think she may have been right.

After lunch we went shopping at the three Indian-owned stores in Cherokee.  Tee found a book that, well, the title says it all.  I shouldn’t have to say another word.

He found a second book that, well, I’ll let the picture do the talking.

Next we have two views of Pepé Le Pew I and II.  You can guess why I named this picture accordingly.

To round out the day, we ended up at the Harrah's Casino for some "ka-chinking" (as my wife calls it).  Formerly known as one-armed bandits, they have been reduced to using electronic button.  I consider it a good day, I only "spent" (lost) $14.70.  We (my wife and I) usually drop $20.00 in a very short time.  We spent close to 1 1/2 hours playing.  Good entertainment.  Had fun, and it was cheaper than going to a movie.

We all had fun.  We plan to go back again one of these days.

I think the subject line of this post needs work.  After reading it, I'd offer up something more like "Beavis and Butthead do the casino."  That wouldn't be fair to the innocent (the wives), though.  Oh, well.  There's something out there to offend everyone  ::)

BTW -- WARNING:  Texas Pete is running television ads corrupting the tastes of millions who think their product is actually hot sauce  :(   Even worse, they're bottling and selling something they call "Cha" which is their nauseating version of Sriracha.  You have to read the fine print on it -- if you don't keep it in the fridge it will rot.  Don't say I didn't warn you  >:(
