Fall Gathering 2014 Clarks Hill Lake Georgia

I just got off the phone and have scheduled this year's Gathering for the week of September 22 through September 28.  This is the fourth annual one of these.  The way it works is folks can come up anytime they want during that week.  Usually, the main times are Friday, Saturday, and folks leave Sunday; however, you can come anytime you want and leave when you want.

Just a few highlights.  Details and pictures are available at previous posts on the Gathering and I'll publish some more as we get closer.

--Sleeping facilities are there for up to about 100 folks.  Just bring sleeping bag and toilet articles...maybe changing of underwear for some of you.
--You can pitch a tent, bring you travel trailer, or motor home if you want.  There are hookups and a dump station.
--It ain't gonna cost you anything.
--Bring your own food, but there is always plenty so if you can't that is no problem.
--We are on the lake if you have a boat and want to bring it.
--There are grocery stores, WalMart, and Academy Sports withing 18 miles.  A Cabels and Costco within about 25 miles.
--Excellent cooking facilites with big kitchen and dining area.

Wow just a few days away!!! 

Really looking forward to it Dee.   For the new members this is a great week or weekend get away.  You get to meet Dee in person and the rest of the gang.   Please make a point to be there, Pam is going to make gravy and biscuits at some point and that alone is worth the drive 

  I'll be there along with many others, don't be shy show up fun times had by all!!!

What Tommy said, X2!!  I guess it is time to start thinking about what "specialty" I will have to work on for this years Gathering.  One thing for sure, I will have the fixings for some of my Gourmet SOS.

Dee..I want my same cabin again, please..I have to tell Donna already so she can make it this year. Don't forget to bomb and I will clean up the kitchen..now what can I make?  Looks like I been volunteered for sausage gravy and biscuits...and I can handle that. I will be making fresh bread everyday and some Yorkshire puddings too, and whatever else I can think of. Any suggestions? Can't wait to see everyone again. Family reunion with out the family and drama, it's the best.

are the cabins for rent?  I have to ask my wife if I can fly in.  art, can you pick me up at the airport again.  not making any promises about showing up but would love to me ya'll.  and I really do have to see if tim's legs really are that white?  the main reason I'm coming it to have some of pam's biscuits and gravy.  would love to meet ya'll with a night of maybe a crown or two.

I got dibs on making the sausage for the Gravy at least one morning this year (so I can eat it too)!  I am also thinking of doing some Jerk Pork and/or chicken along with some Conch  Fritters.

If you haven't attended, let me tell you the area is absolutely beautiful, and you cannot beat the company of folks who will be there!


The ONLY scary part for us last year was when we arrived about midnight. We'd been seeing dear & creatures as we drove along the dark roads. Then when we pulled into the campground we saw the most hideous thing imaginable in our headlights... We screamed, slammed on our brakes and then sighed in relief when we realized it was just Tim's legs!

Cabins are free but first ones there get'em   The upper deck where Dee, myself and other stay is very good plus you get to hear Tim  Dee  someone snore you to sleep

Oh heck yes I will be there! Already have my vacation in September set for that week! I know I will be bringing
at least one, possibly two cookers.  Looking forward to the "family reunion"!
