Title: Best place to buy Kingsford Charcoal
Post by: chriswalters on January 04, 2017, 03:02:22 PM
Where does everyone buy their Kingsford charcoal?  Home Depot and Lowe's have (2) 18.6lb bags for around $20, seems like a decent deal.  Anywhere have it cheaper?

You are at the right stores just at the wrong time. You can get the same quantity for  $9.88 during memorial day, July 4th, and labor day. That's when you stock up.

Wow!  I had no idea it would go on sale that deep.  Great advice!

Just buy the minimum amount for now and mark your calendar for those dates.  Start saving your coins now for the Memorial Day sale.

B T W, you oughta see the stash that Smoke has.

Hahaha I bet!  Just did the math, and if the article I found was correct, and if my math is correct, a large bag of Kingsford (18.6 lb bag) yields 2 cooks on the PBC.  Does that sound correct?

That sound...well - if you are filling the basket completely...about right. But I do find that when I fill the basket to cook chicken - I waste a great deal of charcoal. SO, you may want to post questions about how to determine an adequate amount of charcoal - depending on what - or how long you plan to cook. ;)

Yup, these are the only times to buy. You get ripped off during the winter months......

Kona is right, Walmart has a twin pack 16.7lb bags for $8.94 plus tax. I have read on other sites that you really need to order online for your local store pickup otherwise the workers don't know what you're talking about if you just show up to get them. When looking online, you have to scroll a bit before you see the twin pack "special buy" price. I ordered a max of 10, just need to go pick it up in the next week.

Good info about Wal-Mart online!  Just bought two double packs and got $1 credit using Honey.
