Last night was trick or treat night here in Wapakoneta Ohio. My wife has dressed up in costume and sat out on the porch to hand out the treats for over 30 years now. The kids get a kick out of her being dressed up too.
I think the only year she missed was when she got her new knees and I sat out that year. It is much easier than answering the door since we usually have about 200 or more. They are allowed to come from 6:00 PM until 7:30.
Over the years she has dressed as a clown, a witch, a man, a butterfly and I don’t remember all. She does the witch pretty good!
This year she used some of my stuff from my black powder shooting days as a pioneer lady. She wore my beaver hat, a scrimshawed neckless and powder horn, leather shooting bag and wooden canteen. She had a deerskin shirt to wear but it was too cold, she could not get it over a sweatshirt.
Grandson Gavin came down to help her hand out the treats. It was too cold so we didn’t have many they came in at 7:00 and said they were done. I think my chocoholic wife is happy we had a lot of candy left!
