Title: I doubt any of y'all will want to try these. That's okay

JACK DANIEL'S FUDGE

5 cups sugar (2 pounds)
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 cup whole milk
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
25 large marshmallows, ripped in half
11.5 oz. Ghiradelli 60% cocoa bittersweet chocolate chips
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cups Jack Daniels,(You could use somthin' else but it won't taste as good)

Do this with the stuff above:
1.  Mix whiskey with powdered sugar and set aside.  ( I guess if you poured more JD in the measurin' cup than you meant to you may have to drink it for quantity control purposes.)

2. Foil and butter a 9 x 13 or larger bakin' pan.

3. Put sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla in a large pot with heavy bottom. Stirring till mixture boils, continue stirrin' while lettin' it boil for 3 minutes. (Time is important, so don't mess this up). Remove from heat.

4. Add the marshmallows and chocolate, stirrin' till all of it is melted and blended into the sugar mix.

5. Give whiskey mixture a quick stir and add to the pot stirrin' until fully incorporated.

6.  Pour into greased pan and chill.  Let mellow for a day before cuttin' and servin'.  I reckon while you're waitin' you could taste the JD to insure the quality remains high and doesn't go flat while waitin'.  Some of your family and friend may tell  you this step is unnecessary because JD never goes flat.  Just remember---they have lied to you before about other things and it's better to be safe on somethin' this 'portant.

Let us know how it works out.

My daughter visited the JD distillery and brought me a bottle of Jack Daniels Sinatra Select. That is some seriously good whiskey. It was made in honor of Frank Sinatra's  100th birthday. All he drank was Jack Daniels and lots of it.

Ken, Did she tell you how much that cost?  I think I saw it in the Class VI for $100 + if I recollect proper.  When I toured the place you could not get any there.  They must have changed things.  They did not have the Sinatra at that time; but for a bunch of money you could have a barrel of Single Barrel sent to you with a plaque on it.  I want to say it was around $3500 but I could be off on that as well. Jack has always been my favorite for decades.

How did that Sinatra taste?  I have not been able to drink in a few years. At least the pills have a sticker on them saying no alcohol can be taken with this medicine.  That maybe something they just stick on.

Smooth, smooth, smooth Dee. I have to struggle to have only a shot or two neat every night. It will be gone soon.

I have a friend of my son's who owns a huge antique armoire.  He reserves the top two shelves for JD products only.  I have seen it filled.  Looks like a special display at a store.  Top shelf supplies all the way.

He also had a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle.  I did get to sample a wee dram of that on the rocks.  I had to cut it with some water.  Mellowed out the Pappy's just right.  Too expensive for my blood.  Even if you could find any today.

If it is good enough for the "Chairman of the board"..it is good enough for me........... ;)

The last time I visited the distillery, they said that they could not sell any alcohol in that town, as it was a "dry".  Have they changed the rules?

I don't know, she sent me a text telling me they were touring the distillery and asked me if I wanted any JD. I assumed she bought it there.

I was there last October.  They do sell JD now.  I bought a bottle and had it engraved for my son as a Christmas present.
