Title: Hello from Texas
Post by: RRaider on June 05, 2017, 09:31:50 AM
I was researching pellet grills and found this forum, I'm impressed by the atmosphere so I thought I'd sign up.
I've been smoking for years and have an offset, wsm, kamado, weber gasser, and a brand new Blazin Grid Iron pellet grill.

Welcome!

LTBBQ exists because we foster the growth of a friendly, no A-HOLES, no "talking down" to folks environment. Yes - we DO have some folks here that are well known - authors of great cook books, writers for national publications, and several big contest winners. But everyone comes here to kick their boots off, and sit around and just relax while talking about BBQ and various other things. We believe that folks that strike their first match to light charcoal can often have fresh observations, and even remind some of us of the basics that we forgot the importance of. We do not care about trophies won. We know that better BBQ can be had in our backyards, because we have time and no rules on our side... ;) 8)
And - we have fun..you will notice that there is almost no "thread policing" or warnings to "stay on topic"...Why? Because we wanted to build a community...not just a forum. Communities are friendship based. Discussion forums are good...but can be sterile and often filled with "keyboard commandos"...folks that feel it more important to be right - than be friendly. We listen, learn, exchange ideas and experiment here. And - we even share our less than ideal outcomes ( I hate to say "failures"...because as Smokeasaurus will tell you... "At least we get to eat our failures"... :D :D :D

So - dig in, feel at home. And what part of Texas is home? I am a Native Son of The Republic.

Welcome from So-Cal. I have based my style of cooking on Texas BBQ. Just lick smacking good.

As Tee pointed out, if it wasn't for my failures, I would be pretty darn skinny  :D :D

Thanks! Somehow I left my Charbroil SRG off the list, not the worlds greatest cooker, but good at what it does.

Thanks, I'm in Amarillo. The community aspect is clear and is what motivated me to join.

Thanks Hub, I read those shortly after finding the forum (if one is looking they are hard to miss  ;D ) and they were very informative. I appreciate those who are willing to put the time into posting such things, they are very helpful for those branching out in new directions.

Welcome from Northern Illinois.

I'm somewhat of a newby here as I recently (last year) bought a pellet grill, partly based on my reading of this forum.  You'll love the ease of use of the pellet grill, and you'll get a lot of great information from this site.  I might be biased, but I highly recommend buying a MAK.

Wait, you let Aggies join this forum?

Actually I now find it much easier to pull for the Ags now that they have gone their own way.

Thanks! the Mak was a bit out of my price range but a local dealer made me a heck of a deal on a Blazin Grid Iron so it's now sitting in my back yard.
