Title: Newb from the great white north

I have been smoking (badly) for a couple of years with a true north electric smoker, and have made the move to a charcoal smoker when I got a pretty good deal on a Dyna-Glo bullet smoker. I too will have lots of dumb questions -
like

The instructions tell me I have to put the charcoal on the charcoal grate not in the pan - but if I put the charcoal and wood chunks on top of the grate how do I get the water pan to fit?

I just looked at a Dyna-Glo manual and there should be some brackets you install for the water bowl to sit on directly above the charcoal. There is a charcoal grate inside of the ash ring. Then another grate goes over the water pan and and then you have a upper rack. This gives you 2 racks to cook on. Hope this helps.

Post by: philip_litke on June 14, 2017, 01:55:45 PM: Thanks Highonsmoke - I must be doing something wrong when I put it together - it seems like I only have about 2 -3 inches between the bottom of the water pan and the charcoal rack - so if I try to put a piece of smoking wood on top of the charcoal, the wood will push up on the water pan spilling water and killing my fire
