Almost three weeks after arriving, our new 2019 MAK 2 Star General is FINALLY together and in service! (We were in Florida for a week, I came back sick, then we've had almost constant rain.)
MAKs are built like a tank so putting one together is definitely a 2-person job! Since my son had to work, it was well worth paying our pastor's grandson to come over, after Church, and help me get it assembled. After all the rain we've had, look how badly the yard needed to be mowed! :o

After the initial burn-in we went ahead and threw on some venison smoked sausage, hot dogs and a pot of homemade Mac & Cheese. YUM!!!

I love that the racks, griddle, searing grates, etc. from the 1 Star are all interchangeable with this grill!
I can't wait to start playing with some of the new features, such as the roaming Temperature Controller, multiple rack positions, better grease draining, etc.!
I'm also thinking very seriously of getting the MAK Super Smoker Box to go on top of the cold-smoke chamber, with all the sausage making and such that I enjoy.
Stay Tuned, I'll be posting more about the new features! 8)

Congrats Cliff! Hope you find your 2019 model as enjoyable as I have found mine to be. The upgrades/mods/enhancements are very well thought out. The WiFi has been super reliable, the k-style probe ports are awesome to have, and the (what appears to be minor) overall design changes have turned out to be not so minor in the way they have enhanced the user experience :)
Look forward to seeing more from you!! :)

Have you settled on a 1 or 2 Star?

Have you settled on a 1 or 2 Star?
Don't know yet. I have always liked the 1 stars a little more. It has a more stable wider base. I never use the side smoke chamber on the 2 star. The both have the same size racks. I like the black on the 1 stars. The 2 stars stainless you are always trying to keep clean. You don't worry about on the 1 stars. The 1st stars are cheaper by $1000. The flame zone in my opinion is good for high heat cooking. I don't do that with the maks. That's what my Weber is for. I do like the flame zone because it keeps the grease out of the belly of the 1 stars. That's the only reason for me. So the 1 star with the flame zone would work. Since I'm moving up to the Seattle area I plan on smoking a lot of salmon ( my wife loves my smoke salmon a lot and she makes me butterscotch pudding ) so the multiple racks on the 2 star would work very well. Won't know which one I end up with until I visit the mak plant in August.

Gotcha! They are both fantastic as you know. In my opinion, the 2 Star cannot be worn out... EVER. I like that about it :)
