what a disaster cook this weekend.  I tried Tommy's Pulled Pork, ran out of propane a third into the cook - got it going again.  Checked one point it was 170 ish - half hour later it was at 210.  pulled it out and set it outside to cool down and - well a predicable mess - dry and charred outside.

4.5 pounds.

i started out trying to cook it at half-temp until i ran out of propane then had it on high - went through two bins of woodchips in the process - they don't last very long.

The first two shots I had it on high the entire way through.

I never use high setting once the pellets start to smoke. This is why it burned up I'm betting.   I always start on high for 15 mins to get the pellets going then drop to low for the entire cook.

hey - a couple questions.

for FTC - does a Styrofoam cooler work as well ?

and the second question - how long would you estimate a 14lb turkey would cook?  I'm guessing 3 hrs or so.  if it's done early would you FTC it also?

thanks!
