Ray:  I agree and did mine yesterday on the SRG.  It looks like you use the mesh lid too.  I put the hard top cover down for about 30 minutes on high, and then switch to the mesh cover for the remainder of the cook on high.  It took me about 2 hours and 10 minutes for a 16 pound bird.  I brined first for 24 hours with the Oakridge brine, then injected with butter and rub like Tommy recommends.  It came out to be one of my best so far.  I like deep fried but would not go back for the extra mess and cost, even though it is good eats too.  I have used my SRG so much that the cooking pot finally separated at the bottom so I ordered a new one.

Everything looks great, I used one yesterday to cook a backup bird for my uncle and it went first over the traditional oven roasted. He's now sold on TBE he bought so I have to leave him instructions for chicken and pork roasts/pulled pork.

This is my second one because the bottom separated at the bottom on the first one. How much did it cost to the new one?

Ray:  It was $60 + $13 shipping.  Kinda pricey compared to a new unit, but I did not have much choice.  I have more than gotten my money's worth on this cooker, however, and I use it 2-3 times per week. Mostly on skinless chicken breasts, but on wings too.  I am on the fence for how I do wings now, as I have been grilling them on charcoal until I get a slight crust, then dredge in seasoned flour, and then deep fry for 7 minutes.  The SRG still puts out very good wings.

I think that is why I got a new one. I think I got it at HD for something like $80.
